Navan Races

Navan Racecourse is a left-handed oval-shaped Irish horse racing venue in County Meath. There are a number of graded and Group races at this track which means it gets used for flat and National Hunt events throughout the year.

Big Navan races include the Vintage Crop Stakes for flat stayers in the spring and Troytown Chase, a three-mile handicap over fences.

As an undulating track with a stiff uphill finish, strong galloping horse are suited best by the course.

A full circuit of Navan Racecourse is about a mile-and-a-half with the run-in off the final bend between three furlongs and half-a-mile.

Jack Kennedy was the leading jockey at Navan Racecourse in the five seasons from 2015-16 to 2019-20, partnering 19 horses to victory from 93 rides. That is a strike rate of 20 per cent.
Navan local Gordon Elliott was top trainer in that period by some distance, saddling 72 winners at a 17 per cent success ratio.
On the flat, Colin Keane was the best rider at Navan races in the five years between 2016 and 2020, riding 42 winners at 19 per cent.
Two trainers operated at a 21 per cent strike rate during that time in Aidan O’Brien (40/194) and Ger Lyons (30/141).
