Naas Racecourse

Naas Racecourse is a left-handed Irish horse racing venue near Punchestown in County Kildare. There are both flat and National Hunt events over jumps held on this undulating track.

A circuit of the round course at Naas is about a mile-and-a-half. There are also some point to point races held here as well as horse racing under rules.

The stiff uphill finish of around half-a-mile and means the track best suits strong galloping horses.

Besides hosting some Classic trials on the flat and big handicaps in both codes, another of the feature Naas races is the Grade 1 Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle over two-and-a-half miles in January.

Naas Races Tips

Over jumps, two jockeys at Naas Racecourse distinguished themselves in the five seasons from 2015-16 and 2019-20. Mark Walsh rode the most winners with 25 out of 100 mounts. Paul Townend had an even better strike rate, however, of 35 per cent (22/66). Willie Mullins was the top trainer, with a 32 per cent win ratio.
Colin Keane was the leading jockey in flat Naas races in the five years between 2016 and 2020 inclusive with 46 winners at a 16 per cent success rate.
Aidan O’Brien was top trainer by some distance in the same period, saddling 79 horses to victory (22 per cent).
