Brighton Racecourse is extremely quirky. Set high on the downs above the grand old Sussex seaside town, it commands spectacular views over the sea and the surrounding countryside.
It isn’t a circuit, but a left-handed, horseshoe-shaped track of about one mile and four furlongs. The constant undulations, twists and turns make it ideal for small, nippy horses rather than big, long-striding animals.
The highlight of the calendar at this ever-popular track is the three-day festival in early August, where the feature race is the Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy.

Brighton has no meetings schedules for the rest of 2020. Even if it did, they would be run behind closed doors because of the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
This is set to be reviewed and updated in line with government advice, with Brighton races keen to welcome back punters as soon as it is safe to do so.
It’s still worth checking Brighton races fixtures because the decision to allow spectators in could change. If you book tickets to a Brighton Racecourse event that is then moved to behind closed doors, refunds will be processed through the official course website.
