History Of Haydock Park Racecourse

The history of Haydock Park can be traced back to the link between itself and that of several meetings first instituted at Newton-le-Willows in 1752. Those Newton meetings continued right through until 1898, and since that time it has always become a common statement that the true Lancastrian has always been interested in horses and racing.

After the Second World War, Haydock Park began to take off as a popular venue for racing, as a train line between Manchester and Liverpool was built opposite the course’s entrance.

In 2008, Haydock Park Racecourse saw 29 days of racing, which included some of the best Flat and National Hunt racing meets in the country. Several of the races were televised on Racing UK, the subscription racing channel that screens Haydock Park events.
