Bellewstown Races

Bellewstown Racecourse is a left-handed, sharp and undulating track in County Meath, 23 miles north of Dublin in Ireland. It hosts both National Hunt and flat racing, mostly in the summer and early autumn.

There is a steep descent from Crockafotha Hill on the sprint course which turns into an uphill finish on the run-in that is about three furlongs. A full circuit of the round course for Bellewstown races is only roughly nine furlongs, so this is a tight track.

There are no Listed, Group, Graded or Black Type races run here, but this is due to it being one of the lower profile courses in Ireland.

Bellewstown Races Tips

It has paid to follow the trainer-jockey combination of Gavin Cromwell and Jonathan Moore over jumps at Bellewstown Racecourse in recent years. Cromwell was 10 from 50 runners in the five seasons from 2015-16 to 2019-20. Jonathan Moore, meanwhile, had a 28 per cent success rate in the saddle.
Darragh O’Keeffe and Davy Russell both have 25 per cent win ratios riding this track in that time period.
Willie Mullins boasts a 30 per cent strike rate, but the leading Irish trainer rarely has runners here.
On the flat, Ger Lyons is the handler to follow. In those five seasons he sent out 10 winners from 39 horses – a more than than 25 per cent success rate.
A few jockeys have decent records in Bellewstown races with Declan McDonogh and Gary Carroll on 24 per cent apiece in that period of time. Colin Keane, who rides for Ger Lyons, had the most winners with 15.
