Haydock Park Racecourse is a left-handed oval course situated in Merseyside and one of the most used courses in the country. At one mile and five furlongs, Haydock racecourse hosts Flat and Jump meets, with the Betfair Chase in the autumn being the most notable.

Haydock Racecourse is predominantly flat, but the stiff jumping is an ask on the chase course. There are big fences and it’s a very long straight. You can see quite a few front runners do well at Haydock because it’s quick and there’s not a lot places to catch them once they’ve gone. It’s a high standard of racing there so the pace stays strong from start to finish.
I find the hurdles take a lot of jumping – they’re stiff and come fast so you’re moving on quite quickly. You can see horses switch to the outside because there's enough space to swing out and come round without losing any ground.
