History of Folkestone Racecourse
The creation of Folkestone Racecourse was quite lengthy project. While the Folkestone Racecourse Company was established in 1896, the racecourse itself did not come into existence until 1898 when it held its inaugural meeting on 30th March. A year after its inauguration Folkestone Racecourse experienced a financial crisis and narrowly scraped past liquidation. Today, however, Folkestone is a solid pillar on the racing circuit no matter what discipline you prefer. In 2008 it hosted the first Kent National, a valuable steeple chasing event, which is sure to continue for a long time onward.
