Beverley Racecourse

Beverley Racecourse is the sole horse racing venue in the East Yorkshire area, although the region does have a deeply rooted connection to horse races spanning over three decades. The course specialises in Flat races on its one mile three furlong right-handed race track. Known as the 'Friendly Racecourse' Beverley offers 20 race meetings between April and September.

History of Beverley Racecourse

Horse races have been organised at Humberside on the East Coast - which is still the location of Beverley Racecourse - since 1690. As it is the only racecourse in the county it quickly established itself as an important social focal point and has remained a popular meeting place for the North Yorkshire Racing community ever since. Beverley Racecourse celebrated its hey-day during the 19th century, when it staged some of the most spectacular and prestigious racing events of the British Flat racing season. Although it no longer ranks amongst the top race courses of the country, Beverley still maintains its standards and continues to attract some excellent racing talent - most recently Rapid Lad, who holds the record for 12 consecutive victories at the track.

Notable Races of Beverley Racecourse

While Beverley might not be the fanciest and richest racecourse in the United Kingdom, its great racing conditions make it a perfect trial track for horses getting ready to compete at some of the most anticipated races of the season, such as the Royal Ascot Festival.
