Champion galloper Canford Cliffs has been forced into retirement after sustaining a serious leg injury during his second-place finish to Frankel in the Glorious Goodwood.
Trainer Richard Hannon opted to send Canford Cliffs to stud after a leg scan revealed a shadow on the joint running into the pastern which could quite easily turn into a fracture or break.
