Two Major Prizes in Sight of Lavelle
Emma Lavelle-trained runners Junction Fourteen and Shotgun Paddy appear certain to start in this weekend’s two major events.
Aiming to surpass her previous record of 42 winners in a single season, Lavelle has already saddled 30 victors this campaign and will be hoping for two more major crowns in the Lanzarote Hurdle and Classic Chase this weekend respectively.
Despite only a light racing season prior to this weekend’s Lanzarote, Lavelle revealed Junction Fourteen has worked in preparation.
“He worked very well this morning and the view would be we’re heading there on Saturday. He lacks a bit of experience but he’s very tough and seems pretty straightforward” Lavelle said.
Having claimed two of four starts to date, most recently at Kempton on Boxing Day, Junction Fourteen is currently clear favourite at Paddy Power, who currently have the classy colt at a very tempting 7-1.
Easily the market mover for the major at Kempton however is Kaylif Aramis, who was moved in to as low at 12-1 after opening at 20-1.
Chances are currently looking similar for Shotgun Paddy, who has not fallen below third in any of his last eight starts, with three victories.
Having been cut to 9-1 to sit as equal favourite at Paddy Power on account of the heavy, soft in places surface at Warwick, Lavelle said “He should love the ground, and he’s a galloper and a jumper so the chance to run over three miles five should be a positive.”
If successful in both features this weekend, Lavelle will be more than in with a chance of bettering her own person record set in 2012.
