Henderson Could Field Two for Tolworth

Nicky Henderson is amid a particularly busy schedule, preparing My Tent Or Yours for a run at the Champion Hurdle, and it now appears the renowned trainer could enter two chances in this weekend’s rescheduled Levy Board Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle at Kempton.

A total of 11 entrants were taken at Tuesday’s acceptances for the event, which was delayed after a waterlogged track at Sandown forced a reschedule last Saturday.

Aiming to take the crown for the third time in four years after Minella Class (2011) and Captain Conan (2012) both comfortably took care of talented fields, inexperienced Newbury victor Josses Hill and last year’s third Royal Boy will need to overcome classy hurdlers Irving and The Liquidator if Henderson is to return to the Tolworth winner’s circle.

“Josses Hill was going to run in the original race at Sandown and the plan is still to run” Henderson said.

“We’re not sure about Royal Boy as we had considered running him at Warwick over a longer trip, but he could yet end up in the Tolworth. I haven’t looked at the entries yet.”

Irving did not feature in the small group of five intended for the event at Sandown, however looks certain to line up for train Paul Nicholls’ at Kempton.

“He’s on course to run. He wasn’t declared for Sandown because it was so heavy and Paul didn’t want to give him a hard race on bottomless ground as we think he has a bright future” Nicholls’ assistant Tom Jonason said.

“Hopefully it will be better ground at Kempton and that will suit him more.”

Currently sitting as 12-1 co-favourites at Bet365 Bet365 for the Tolworth, Irving and The Liquidator are not expected to be troubled by the largely inexperienced field by the majority of leading online bookmakers.

David Pipe, trainer of The Liquidator said “The BHA have done well to rearrange the contest and should be applauded for going so, although I’m not convinced the tight nature of the new venue will suit our horse as well as Sandown.”
