2013 1000 Guineas Betting Preview

The 1000 Guineas is the feature race on the second day of the QIPCO Guineas Festival at Newmarket this Sunday.

Although it, arguably, lacks the star power of the 2000 Guineas, the 1000 Guineas is an extremely open race with a number of horses in contention to win the 200th running of the famous race.

The current favourite in the 1000 Guineas betting market at Bet365 Bet365 is the Sir Henry Cecil-trained Hot Snap who stormed into favouritism with a classy performance in the Nell Gwyn Stakes.

She is followed in the betting market by What A Name (9/2), Just The Judge (5/1), Moth (6/1) and Sky Lantern (10/1).

The 1000 Guineas is known for throwing up some surprising results and this year could be no different. Our team of UK horse racing experts have analysed the form guide facts and betting statistics for the race to come up with our top 1000 Guineas betting picks.

2013 1000 Guineas Trifecta Tip

Hot Snap (5/2) from Sky Lantern (10/1) and Moth (6/1)

This is a very difficult race to analyse but Hot Snap does appear to be the horse to beat. The Pivotal filly was very impressive in the Nell Gwyn Stakes and the form lines from that race do stack up. Sir Henry Cecil has an excellent record in the 1000 Guineas, having won the race on six occasions, and he is confident he can in the race for the first time since 1999.

Sky Lantern is without a doubt the best value runner in the field. Although she was beaten handily by Hot Snap last start she has the ability to bounce back and with her victory in the Moyglare Stud Stakes she is the only filly in the field that has tasted success at the highest level of racing. At her current 1000 Guineas odds she is an excellent each-way bet.

Moth is a difficult horse to compare to the rest of the field but she was very impressive in the European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden last start. The daughter of Galileo will have to improve significantly to be a contender in this race but connections have been very confident in the lead-up.
