2012 Welsh Grand National Betting Update
Betting markets have been released for the Grade 3 Welsh Grand National, which will be run at Chepstow Racecourse on Saturday January 5th after the race was postponed due to a waterlogged track on Boxing Day.
Favourite to win the Welsh Grand National is Teaforthree who is currently priced at odds of 7/2 at Bet365.
The nine-year-old gelding finished sixth behind Bobs Worth in the Grade 3 Gold Cup Chase at Newbury last month but is tipped to improve significantly for this race.
Teaforthree has won four of his fifteen career starts but is yet to taste success in a Grade level race.
Viking Blond, Michel Le Bon and Sona Sasta are all on the second line of betting at odds of 8/1.
Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Viking Blond has not won since October of 2011 but shown good form this season finishing third behind Monbeg Dude in the Grade 3 Henrietta Knight Handicap Chase in November.
Lightly-raced Michel Le Bon has had a career plagued by injury but has been ultra-consistent when trainer Paul Nicholls has been able to get him to the track.
The son of Villez has won four out of his nine career starts and has missed out on the placing’s just twice.
Nicholls also has Royal Charm in the race who is looking for his first race victory since 2010.
The eight-year-old gelding ran a solid third behind Sona Sasta in the Rhys Howells Memorial Handicap Chase and is priced at 20/1 in the latest betting market at Bet365.
Victor Dartnall-trained Giles Cross has been backed into odds of 9/1 as he returns to racing for the first time since failing to finish in the 2012 Grand National Chase at Aintree.
