2011 Investec Oaks Preview

The 2011 Group 1 Investec Oaks will run this Friday 3 June at Epsom Downs, starting at 4:05PM as one of the highlights of an exciting race day. Read on as we take a look at the early odds on this run.

Leading the odds at Bet365 for the Investec Oaks is Blue Bunting at 2/1 to win. Starting this season with a Group 1 1,000 Guineas Stakes win that continued the winning streak she finished with last season, Blue Bunting will be making a significant increase to her usual racing distance with the Investec Oaks. Going from 8 furlongs to 1 mile 4 furlongs and 10 yards may not seem like much, but this is really the first test for Blue Bunting to see if she can race in more than just prestigious sprints.

Next in the odds is Wonder of Wonders at 7/2 to win. She is also coming in off a win, and while it may have only been a Listed event, she has the advantage of having run the Investec Oaks distance before and close to it in her most recent run. She isn’t entirely consistent, however, and we would be unwilling to back her for a win at this price.

Havant comes next in the odds at 11/2 to win, coming from an unfortunate sixth place after finishing two for two last season. Worse yet, she lost her last race behind Blue Bunting and is also just as inexperienced at the Investec Oaks distance. We do not have faith in Havant to turn the tables in this race, and we don’t expect her to place either.
