2010 Cheltenham Trial Hurdle Preview
The 2010 Grade 2 Cheltenham Trial Hurdle, or the StanJames.com International Hurdle as it is currently known, will run this Saturday December 11 at Cheltenham. Bet365 has antepost odds up for the event, so read on for our preview.
Menorah is the favourite in the Bet365 odds, priced at 13/8 to win. That’s not a price you see everyday and you’d hope the horse has earned that level of confidence.
Well, Menorah started this season with a win in the Grade 3 Greatwood Handicap at Cheltenham. He finished just a neck ahead, so these odds are more likely a result of his Grade 1 Spinal Research Supreme Novices’ Hurdle in March. All in all, we don’t think those performances warrant 13/8 odds, so you are better of looking for longer chances.
The next in the odds is Cue Card at 2/1. Winner of the Grade 2 Cheltenham Collection Sharp Novices’ Hurdle this season, Cue Card has had a lot of success in his short career. We think he is a better chance that Menorah to win, and almost certain to place in the StanJames.com Trial Hurdle.
Silviniaco Conti is next in the odds, priced at 11/4. Another undefeated prospect, the 4 year old gelding would look an even better chance than Cue Card if this wasn’t his first time at Cheltenham.
Clerk’s Choice follows in the Bet365 odds, priced at 8/1. This race is a bit of a step up for him, but he has already performed well once at Cheltenham this season, so he shouldn’t be ruled out to place.
