2010 Melbourne Cup Early Betting Odds Preview

The 2010 Melbourne Cup is coming up next week. Australia’s biggest race, it is a tough 3200 metre run and Bet365 have antepost odds on the event.

Top of the odds is Shocking at 3/1 to win. The winner of the 2009 Melbourne Cup, Shocking has had some decent lead up runs this season. His fourth place finish in the Caulfield Cup wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t excellent either. He was unlucky to miss out on a Turnbull Stakes win, but his Makybe Diva Stakes victory early in the season was very impressive. With the rain as bad as it is, Shocking could very well pull off another Melbourne Cup win this year.

Behind Shocking is So You Think, a now two times Cox Plate champion who is contesting the Melbourne Cup for the first time. Australia loves him and his success is being compared to that of the legendary Phar Lap, who is practically a secular saint in that country. Priced at 4/1 to win over at Bet365, So You Think probably isn’t the chance he is being given credit for, as he has not proven himself at the two mile mark.

Next in the odds is a French prospect, Americain. Priced at 10/1 to win this event, Americain recently became the first French horse to win an Australian Group run by coming first in the Geelong Cup. A specialist at longer distances, Americain will have a massive experience advantage over the Australian runners. He also loves the wet, so if he draws a decent barrier, there’s no telling how well Americain could do and it could be worth it for you to bet on the Melbourne Cup for Americain to win.

If you want to bet on the Melbourne Cup now, we recommend joining Bet365 now to take advantage of the antepost odds there!
