That win was followed up by a Peterborough Chase win, before a downward slump at the end of the season. Those last few races did not go well, but they were all a step up to Grade 1 events.

The Tother One is next in the odds at 6/1. The 9 year old does not look a wise pick in this race, as this will be his second Grade 2 run. In his first one, he did not finish, and his Grade 3 and Listed runs have not picked him out as champion material. He last won 2 years ago in the Homesave Beginners’ Chase, and the best he has done since then are two second place finishes in a couple of Listed races.

Following in the odds at 7/1 are China Rock, Duc De Regniere, and Nacarat. China Rock is coming off some nice recent Grade level wins, though in much smaller fields. Duc De Regniere put in some good performances at the end of the last season. Nacarat is coming off some very nice Grade 1 race runs, though none of them were wins. Which is the best value? Probably Nacarat, though China Rock should not be ignored.
