BHS Drawing the Line on Indiscriminate Breeding Artwork – Corbiere by Angie Davidson

Angie Davidson with her artwork of Corbiere
Angie Davidson (Insch Aberdeenshire) has just completed an original pastel painting of Corbiere. Corbiere won the Grand National in 1983 and was trained by the legendary Jenny Pitman OBE.
At the beginning of the year the British Horse Society contacted Angie (along with many other artists as well as celebrities) and asked if she would contribute an original artwork for their Drawing the Line on Indiscriminate Breeding campaign. Angie agreed but, as she is relatively unknown, we thought a way to add value to her artwork (preview night 4th August Mall Galleries, London; auctioned on 13th October at Cheffins, Cambridge) was to ‘do’ a famous horse. As Jenny Pitman is hosting the event we contacted her and with the consent of Corbiere’s former owner, Mr Bryan Burrough, Angie created an original of Corbiere.
Both Jenny and Bryan Burrough have seen a photograph of the original and both are highly delighted with the outcome. Jenny’s husband says it’s like looking at a ghost, whilst Jenny reckons there has only ever been one other artist who has ‘caught’ Corbiere. Now, there are two!
