Aptly named Favourite Girl from the stables of trainer Tim Easterby looks like she might make an impact in the Victor Chandler Handicap. The experienced filly, who has started in 29 career races, has collected three wins and one runner-up in her last four races; most recently winning the First Transpennine Express Fillies’ Handicap at Doncaster on 2nd July.

Another favoured contender from the Easterby training stables is five-year-old Captain Dunne. After missing first place by a short head in the Totesport City Wall Stakes at Chester on 10th July, Captain Dunne is said to be doing great in training and ready to take on another set of rivals. Trainer Easterby is optimistic about his charges prospects, as he predicts the distance of 5 furlongs will suit his gelding just fine.

Last year’s winner, Wilson-trained Pavershooz, is back in an attempt to repeat 2009’s winning performance. However, the five-year-old gelding has failed to record a significant win or placing since he ran first across the line in the Giles Insurance Heritage Handicap (Giles Insurance being the former sponsor of today’s fixture). Still, Pavershooz’s connections are keeping the faith that their charge will give another great run at his favourite track and fixture.
