Nassau Stakes 2010 Odds – Glorious Goodwood 2010 Preview
The final day of the Glorious Goodwood Festival 2010 holds a special treat with the Blue Square Nassau Stakes, one of the finest events for fillies of the season. Seven top-class fillies and mares are getting ready to burn the track on Saturday in the final day’s only Class 1 Group 1 race. Trainer Henry Cecil has again entered last year’s winning team of the Nassau Stakes, Midday and jockey Tom Queally, chasing his second consecutive win in a row. Midday has shown some fine form in training and has had a good season so far; her only start in 2010, in the Middleton Stakes at York in May saw her loose narrowly to Sariska, but her connections are positive she will be able to score big again in this year’s Nassau Stakes.
French filly Stacelita has not suffered a victory since May 2009, winning four starts in a row. The four-year-olds most recent victory took place at La Coupe at Longchamp Racecourse in June. Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget and paired with Christophe Soumillon, who also rode her winning race at Longchamp, this filly is out to run her English rivals into the ground.
Another French cannon to keep an eye on in the Blue Square Nassau Stakes is Rosanara from the stables of Alain De Royer-Dupre. This filly has not been dubbed ‘The French Raider’ for nothing, putting in great performances all season. Her last appearance in the Prix De Diane, a high-profile race at France’s Chantilly Racecourse, saw her claim a valiant runner-up to stable mate Sarafina. However, the distance at Goodwood this Saturday is said to be Rosanara’s favourite, so watch out for the French Raider that afternoon.
