Seven high-profile runners have been confirmed as starters in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes and are ready to set the track on fire this Saturday.

Trainer-jockey duo Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore, who won last year’s running of the King George on Conduit, are back to attempt a repeat performance with three-year-old Workforce. Workforce may not be the most experienced thoroughbred on the track, with only three professional starts under his belt, but the colt has proven himself a fighter and champion – most recently winning the Investec Epsom Derby, one of the prestigious English Classic Races. Thanks to his spectacular performances in his three-year-old season thus far, Workforce is currently handled as the race favourite.

Sir Michael Stoute also trains second favourite Harbinger. Four-year-old Harbinger has started in eight career races and only finished outside the money once. Unbeaten in 2010 so far, the colt’s latest success was his win in the Hardwicke Stakes at Ascot on June 19th; a victory which saw him blowing the competition off the track when he crossed the line with 3 ½ lengths to spare.

The third force of nature starting in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes is Cape Blanco from the stables of Aidan O’Brien. This outstanding colt has not been beaten since June 2009, racking up five wins out of six career starts since bursting onto the scene. Cape Blanco’s latest success was his win in the Irish Derby at the Curragh on 27th June. However, Cape Blanco will not be starting under his regular jockey Johnny Murtagh this Saturday as Murtagh is currently under suspension; instead jockey Colm O’Donoghue has been booked to take the reins.
