We have reached Day 3, 29th July 2010, the halfway mark of the Glorious Goodwood Festival – and today’s feature race, the Artemis Goodwood Cup, is promising a thrilling highlight for the Thursday meeting. Featuring twelve top-class runners over the age of four and two miles of merciless competition, the Goodwood Cup will no doubt be an outstanding event amongst the great quality racing hosted at Goodwood Racecourse. Prolific trainer Aidan O’Brien has entered Age Of Aquarius into the Goodwood Cup, hoping this promising runner will finally break his streak of second places in today’s feature event. Four-year-old Age Of Aquarius was the runner-up in his last four professional races, most recently missing out on the win in the Ascot Gold Cup by a neck. Age Of Aquarius has been doing excellent work in training and is taking to the track under jockey Johnny Murtagh, who partnered the thoroughbred in most of his career races with fair results.

Second favourite Tactic, trained by John Dunlop, has been on something of a roll in the past months. After recording a win at the Curragh in the Stowe Family Law LLP Grand Cup in May and another – the third in his career – at the same racecourse in the At the Races Curragh Cup in June, Tactic’s connections are confident that their charge will be able to make an impression in the Artemis Goodwood Cup. It seems as though this colt is finally coming into his own, after thirteen starts including three wins, three second places and one third place, he is chasing his third consecutive win with the help of jockey Richard Hills.
