Favourite Girl Wins Victor Chandler Handicap

Tim Easterby’s Favourite Girl is the winner of the Bet At Victor Chandler On 08000 78 78 78 Handicap. Four-year-old Favourite Girl gave jockey Duran Fentiman an amazing ride yesterday afternoon, Monday 19th July, at the meeting at Ayr.

Travelling well throughout the race, Favourite Girl took her time making her move for the lead. The field was headed for the most part of the race by Captain Dunne and Duchess Dora, both of them fighting to maintain a fair pace and their spot at the front of the group. Favourite Girl kept herself on the leaders’ tails, with Fentiman timing their assault carefully. However, once the runners had past the half-way mark, the hustle for the leading position began in earnest.

As Favourite Girl broke free from her waiting position the field underwent a serious re-shuffle behind her. Leading horse Captain Dunne lost his bearings in the scuffle and ended up at the very back of the field. Pavershooz, who won this event last year, made a last minute dash for a double win, but Favourite Girl held onto her lead by a ¾ length. Cheveton came home third under Andrew Heffernan, defeating former front runner Duchess Dora, who struggled to fourth place. Captain Dunne made a disappointing 11th place out of 12 runners.

Although Easterby has not yet announced where and when Favourite Girl will race next, it is definitely worth keeping an eye out for this filly, who seems to be on a serious roll.
