Trainer Marcus Tregoning is back with Finjaan, winner of the Betfair Cup 2009, hoping to repeat his charge’s winning performance of last year. Finjaan, who is now in his four-year-old season, will be taking to the track under jockey Richard Hills; last year saw him winning the race under the direction of Tim O’Shea. The Betfair Cup at the Glorious Goodwood Festival will be Finjaan’s first race since September 2009 and might become his first win since he won the same event last year.

Air Chief Marshal from the stables if Aidan O’Brien is considered a strong contender for tomorrow’s Betfair Cup (also known as the Lennox Stakes). The three-year-old, who will be competing under jockey Colm O’Donoghue – a first time combination – seems to have truly found his mojo after winning two races this within five days this month. On 12th July, Air Chief Marshall ran to a smashing 15 lengths victory in the Irish Stallion Forms European Breeders Fund Race at Dundalk, five days later the colt won the Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh. If Air Chief Marshal can remain on his roll of glory, he will be a runner to watch this Tuesday.

USA-bred Red Jazz seems to have been warming up to a win for the better part of this season. After placing second three times in a row, trainer Barry Hills believes his charge is finally ready to win. The three-year-old will be heading for the finish line under jockey Michael Hills, who has been riding the colt ever since he entered the Hills training stables.

Five days of outstanding racing events lie ahead at Goodwood Racecourse.
