As a Group 1 Listed race for fillies and mares aged three and older, the Woodcote Stud E.B.F. Valiant Stakes is an event that combines great experience and youthful enthusiasm and stamina, often resulting in explosive horse races.

I’m A Dreamer, from the training stables of David Simcock, is a prime example for the young talents featured in this event. At three years of age, I’m A Dreamer has only started in three professional races; but she has won all of them. Her most recent win in the E.B.F. 32Red Fillies’ Handicap saw her defeat a field of nine, many of them more experienced on the track than the young winner. However, I’m A Dreamer has thus far only competed and won races over a distance of eight furlongs, and there is no telling how she will do over the full mile she faces at Ascot on Friday 23rd July.

Irish five-year-old Alsace Lorraine is a veteran of eleven races and only finished outside the money four times since starting her career in 2008. The mare, who trains with James Fanshawe and is planning to take to the track at Ascot under regular jockey Jamie Spencer, scored her latest victory in the Bovis Homes Fillies’ Handicap, which is also held at Ascot. Familiar with the track and keen to add another success to her resume, Alsace Lorraine is sure to give it her all this Friday.

Whether you decide to back one of the old guard or go for one of the young ladies, the Woodcote Stud E.B.F. Valiant Stakes will be one cracking race to start the excitement of the Betfair Weekend at Ascot. Betfair will be offering odds on this event and all other fixtures running at Ascot this weekend closer to the race date.
