Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle – Distance: 2 miles 5 furlongs – Winning Time: 5:02.8
Peddlers Cross, ridden by Jason Maguire, conquered the infamous Cheltenham Hill and a persistent Reve De Sivola racing to victory in the Neptune Novices’ Hurdle. The five-year-old and his regular jockey – Maguire has piloted Peddlers’ Cross in all his four career starts – have recorded their fourth consecutive win, leaving the Donald McCain-trained prodigy unbeaten.
The drastic counterpart to the glorious success of Maguire and Peddlers’ Cross was provided by race co-favourite Quel Esprit. The Mullins-trained six-year-old, ridden by Ruby Walsh took a dramatic fall – miraculously leaving champion jockey Walsh able to walk unassisted to obtain medical care.
