Lightning Novices’ Chase Premiers Saturday 30th January at the Doncaster Sky Bet Chase Meeting

Doncaster’s Skybet Chase Day, the premier jumps event of the Doncaster racing season and host of The Skybet Chase, is this year introducing a brand-new event for jump racing newcomers – The Lightning Novices’ Chase – an event already hailed at the best Novices’ Chase Run to be held at Town Moor all year.

This Grade 2 event for over-fives is run over two miles and 110 yards, starting at 13:45. Amongst the 17 contenders is Irish-trained Mad Max, whose most recent win saw him take the Play Poker Novice’s Chase at Kempton on 16th of January. The Henderson-trained eight-year-old will pit his strength against fellow Irish horse Woolcombe Folly, and temperamental Gifford-trained Nomecheki, winner of the Free Timeform Novices’ Chase at Plumpton on 3rd January.

As a new addition to a long-standing race meeting of great prestige – the Skybet Chase Day operated under the name of The Great Yorkshire Chase for the first years of its tradition –The Lightning Novices’ Chase is set to be an event you will recall for a long time. The Lightning Novices’ Chase is a rare chance to view a first-time event at the lavish, refurbished facilities of the race course which hosts some of the most prestigious jump races in the country.
